Celestial Seasoning's Sugar Plum Spice. However I've been on a ginger peach kick.
2. If you could go back and observe any time/place in the past or future where/when would you go?
Trial of Jean d'Arc (presuming I could understand the language)
3. What do you read, when you don't want to think too hard, or start something new. An Old Friend read.
I like the Dresden Series, Sho-gun, or of all things the Merry Gentry series (if I want total fluff)
4. Who are some of your "heroes".
Boss. Meirwen. Dicea. Diane Fossey. Jane Goodall.
5. What are the names of your fur-children?
the 14 year old Orange Tabby: Miss Alexandra Anastasia Ekaterinova (aka Miss Alex)
the 8 year old Grey Tabby: Talia Christine Ekaterinova (aka Talia-boo)
the 5 year old Chihuahua: The Grimm Nikolai Ekaterinavich (aka Grimmy)
the 6 month old Tuxedo cat: Puck (aka Puck-Puck) He is also the first pet I've ever had that doesn't have a full name. Well, I"m sure he does, but he never shared it with me.
The guppy of in determinant age: RG (aka Red Guppy)
The algea eater fish: "Hey Fishie, are you still alive"
The ones who have gone before (that belonged to me and not my family):
Tzar Attila Ekaterinavich = my beloved Norwegian Forest Cat
Nicodemus Dmitri Ekaterinavich = my beloved panther
Sandee Renee Telesco = my mini apricot poodle
And more fish than I can count.
I'd love to take a film making class. Possibly editing. Just because.
2. What is your idea of bliss?
Floating along the lazy river at Disney World with the one I love.
3. Who is your favorite writer?
How can I pick just one? I have several depending on the genre. JD Robb, Sabrina Jefferies, Jim Butcher, Kim Harrison, James Clavell.
4. If you could anywhere on this planet for a week, where would you go?
I'd go back to Disney World.
5. If you had 1 minute of the President of the United State's time, what would you say?
I'm sorry the majority of the country are being asshats. Tell your successor that to mostly appoint single soccor moms who have to support a family of 4 on under $30K a year into positions that handle money.
Grimm. My chihuahua. My boy. My puppy. Every morning he greets me either with a kiss or a roll onto his back asking for belly rubs.
2. If you could go back in time to witness a single episode in history, what would it be?
Oh man, i have so many I would like to see. The Kennedy Assassination. The first launch of the first Space Shuttle (in person not on TV like I saw when I was a kid). The crowning of Elizabeth I. Marco Polo's first introduction to the Chinese Court. The signing of the Manga Carta and the Declaration of Independence. The Assassination of Tzar Nicolas and his family. The battle of Hastings. The Trial of Joan d'Arc. and lots others
3. If a fairy godmother told you that you were going back in time to a certain early point in your life and that you would be switched in gender and have to live as a male from then on, how would you change your life choices?
Now that's tough. I probably wouldn't have fought so hard to stay OUT of the Citadel which means, had I graduated, I would have had a military career. Now granted, if I still had the same health issues as I did/do it would have been a moot point and I wouldn't have gotten in anyway. But while it's a big change, it's hard to say how much of my choices were made due to my gender rather than my identity, which I concider different things.
4. You have to power to resolve the conflict in the Middle East. How do you do it?
Hire the Swiss Guards or some other neutral or non-Judeo/Christian military and creat the city of Jeruselum a free city (much like Vatican City). Each of the three faiths that claim ties to it get two days a week for "them" and then on the 7th day they rest. City closes except for those that live there.
But until such time as we get past the "my belief is the best and you are wrong and therefore I must make you see the right" we are never going to be able to progress.
5. What is your favorite thing to smell, and why is that so?
I have a couple favorite scents. One of my most favorite, of all things, is the smell of photographic developer. Some of my happiest times growing up was in my father's darkroom.
I do not particularly care for fruity/flowery scents. The one I usually wear when I can find it is a cinnamon and sandlewood combination. I like the woody/spicy.
Ask and you will get 5 questions.
Some of the greatest most giving people I have ever met. From the first time picking up a pen scribe to the "been a C&I Laurel since AS *mumble*", they give of their time, their skill, their materials to help make the special day of someone they may not even know even more memorable. Most of the scribes I have met I am in complete awe of their skill and can only hope to one day be even remotely as good as them. Since becoming Signet I have had the opportunity to meet many more of them, and I have become fiercely protective of them so that they are not taken advantage of or burned out.
Even though I have 3 cats, I consider myself a dog person. Always had one while I was growing up. There is something magical about the bond that forms between a dog and its human. I spent 10 years without one and it wasn't until Grimm came into my life that I realized how much I missed having one. Now I can't imagine my life without my little guy. He's been my friend, my companion, the shoulder to cry on, my source of frustration and enjoyment.
The one chore I really really really hate. I think it comes from growing up with a parent who was obsessive to the point of abusive about the condition of my room as a child. Nothing could be out of place. Now, especially because I live alone, I find it hard to get the motivation to do it. I recognize it's a form of rebellion and all. But unless I have a reason to remove the clutter (and that's all it is - clutter) and run a vacuum, it's hard to motivate to do so.
obligation, responsibility, expectation, honor.
Don't like it. Be it the processed meat product or the unwanted email, I do not like. I will not eat it Sam I am, I will not eat your canned and processed icky Spam.
A interesting and amazing culture. Especially the time periods I'm interested in (the 14th-17th Century). The art alone is amazing. The clothing is beautiful and their ideal female shape is mine. Hard to dislike that.
Something I like to do in the summer. Though I can't until I get a new widget that lets me connect the new propane take to the grill itself. It's healthy and gives great flavor and is by far the best way to cook Salen's hot dogs.
if you want 7 words, leave a comment.
1. What drew you to the SCA? Well, initially a boyfriend. After that, I found my family of choice. People who I loved and love me, who accepted me for me and offered the welcoming, encouraging world I needed.
2. What makes you happiest in your day job? I really like almost all the people I work with. The actual work goes from "eh" to "OMG STRESS!!!" but it's the people that are worth it.
3. Where would you go if you could travel anywhere? I still want to see San Falle, Italy. It's the town my family came from. I'd love to travel to Australia and Ireland. I would also love to go back to Charleston, SC again.
4. What books could you read over and over and never get bored? Shogun. I read it at least once a year. Lately I"m more into audio books because I can do things while being told a story. I"m on my umpteenth listening of the Dresden Series. Oh, and I still love my favorite childhood book - One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.
5. What's your current musical obsession? When I listen to music, lately I've been cycling to Rock Sugar (if you have never heard of them look them up on Youtube), Lady Gaga, Pink, the Irish Rovers and the soundtrack to the London cast of Jekyll and Hyde..
6. If you were a mixed drink, which would you be? I have to go with the one I usually drink when I go out - a Godmother. It's simple, unexpected, sparkly and nutty but in an understated kind of way. It's just amaretto and ginger ale.
7. Puppies or kitties, and why? I have both. And I love both. I like cats for the (most of the time) quiet companionship they give. It's always on their terms but it's still there. I like pups for the absolute unconditional love and laughter I find from and around them. There is just nothing wrong with coming home after a hard day and being greeted by a little bundle of squirming love that doesn't know if he should kiss you or piddle because he's just so excited to see you.
You are The High Priestess
Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.
The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

Take Which Doctor Who companion are you? (girls) today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator.
Silly Doctor. It's adorable, really, how hard he tries. And he is pretty brilliant, you'll give him that. But he always seems to overlook the obvious--including the fact that he's not the only Gallifreyan onboard, thank you very much. You are always calm and collected, and more often than not wonderfully witty, in the face of adversity. The Doctor knows he can count on you, even when you infuriate him!
apidae asked: Does the Glad Game help?
Now that I've been doing it for 5 months now, I have to say yes. I spend too much time dwelling on the bad, negative and depressing things that happen in a day that stopping and making myself find a happy thing, even something as small as "I found $1 in my pocket" helps me to remember that life is more than just the crappy, stressful, negative things.
I don't know if anyone else cares about my "happy thoughts of the day" but they do help me. By doing it this year, I found that my usually depressive February was not so depressive. The hard days aren't as bad when I remember that I have a puppy that loves me or we made Miss Molly smile by visiting the Nursing Home today or I had a yummy dinner.
I do not know if I will continue the exercise after the year is over. I might drop it down to a good thing a week.
So the simple answer is... yes.
I think the first time I met you was at my first Pennsic. I had volunteered at Public Safety and quickly became enveloped in the workings of being a Supervisor/Deputy/whatever was needed at the moment and you were Fire Marshall.
I remember at that time thinking “Who the hell is this guy?” after you came in needing something done about someone being stupid with tiki torches and trees and tents. And I have to admit that at that time I thought you were an ass.
But as the years went by and I learned more about what it really meant being part of Pennsic Staff and specifically dealing with the fire issues, I came to realize just how hard and stressful Fire Marshall is and that you were not an ass. You were working really hard to keep several thousand people safe and stop them from self immolation.
Now, many moonturns later I find you a hard working individual who has a great laugh and likes to have fun, not to mention genuinely cares about folks.
If you are reading this right now, please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.
It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your LJ and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.
