My writing challenge this week
They sat in the car, amongst all the others, in the mass exodus to leave the stadium’s parking lot. It had been a wonderfully warm November afternoon and he was flying so high he didn’t care that they hadn’t moved more than 10 feet in 25 minutes.
“Man, did you see that throw Grossman made in the first? 20 yards through the mob right into Berrian’s waiting hands. And the way Berrian ate up the yards for that touchdown?” He asked beaming.
Sara, his girlfriend, sighed. “Yes, I saw it,” she said flatly.
“And then Brigg’s interception in the 3rd? Did you see the look on Lossman’s face. I bet that twirp cries all the way back to Buffalo. The boys were really on their game today. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they keep playing like this they make it all the way to the Super Bowl.”
He didn’t see her half-hearted nod or hear a response so he turned to look at her. He was fed up. She had been a royal bitch since they arrived and her mood was starting to rub off on him, despite the outcome of the game.
“What the hell is wrong with you? You’ve been a total drag all day. First the seats are uncomfortable, then you’re cold, then they don’t have the bottled water you like. If you didn’t want to watch the game why did you say you’d go with me?”
Jason met her gaze and leveled a cold one of his own as he waited for her explanation.
“You didn’t say we were going to a FOOTBALL game, Jace. I thought we were going to the circus today.”
He blinked at her totally dumbfounded and it took him a minute to make his mouth work and then another to make sound.
“The circus? Why the hell would you think we were going to the circus?”
She sighed dramatically again. “Because you said you got tickets to see the bears.”
This time it was his turn to sigh. His girlfriend was such a girl.
The topic for this week that was given to me was "Bears"
