RIP part deux

I came home today and poor Sunshine had set... on the bottom of the tank.

I think the boob at PetSmart lied. I asked if I could put the Beta in with the Mollies and he said I could.

Well... I guess I won't be getting any more for a while. See how Prose is with Moose.

I might get a small tank for Prose so he can have his own apartment and get new Mollies or guppies for the big tank. But that will have to wait until payday at least.

Bully.

how big is your tank right now? Betas are very teritorial as well as agressive so in order to keep them from being over agressive you need a LARGE tank.

I had mollies and a betta in a 15 gallon tank and the Mollies were horrible to him. Bettas move much slower because of their larger fins and the mollies I had were agressive. :( I'm sorry to hear about a second one. An even bigger shame that it was due to the ignorance of a pet shop person. *HUG*

I had a beta and some "female betas" long ago. Came home one day and found a shredded "female beta" on the floor. Same the next day, til one day I caught the male murdering the last female. The male was a bachelor again. Then the cat ate him.

Beta bullies

My sources say No to gouramies of any sort, fancy guppies, fin nippers (to protect the beta), and anything with long flowy tails.

But is it fair to call him a bully--I mean really, betta splendens real name is Siamese Fighting Fish!

I second Svan about the Petco: they seem to be infinitely superior to PetsMart and Pet Supplies Plus in the fishy department.
