huh

So last week I finally broke down and went and got my annual eye exam. I'd been putting it off for a while mostly due to finances. While the exam was free, my health insurance changed and the actual glasses are no longer covered, so I'd been watching for the place I go to do one of their promos (and considering the mid-range costs of the lenses I need are at least $400...). So last week their 50% entire set of glasses (including frames and lenses) sale started.

During the exam, the doctor (who is new to the group) commented that my eyes are extremely dry and did I notice that. I kinda shrugged and said "I have allergies but often they are watering so I never thought they were dry'. She also asked if my eyes hurt at the end of the day. "um, yeah. I figured I needed a new prescription... though I always had a feeling I needed new glasses within a month of getting new ones because my eyes were tired." Nope to all of that... it's all symptoms of dry eye. (OK, yes, I do need a new prescription but not as much of a change as I thought)

So she said to get rewetting drops and every time I found myself rubbing my eyes to use them.

So now it's been not even a full week and OMG you guys... I'm not going to bed with my eyes hurting! Though I gotta wonder why no one ever diagnosed this before.

So yeah... I need to make conscious efforts to pay attention to when I'm rubbing my eyes but wow.
