The "history" of how House Targaryen came to rule the 7 Kingdoms and the bitter infighting that occurred. Well at least the first part of the history.

I found this an interesting work and the reading of Simon Vance made it more of a story than a "historical tome".

If you like George RR Martin and the Fire and Ice series (Game of Thrones) you might like this as well.
