Sometimes it only takes a moment. On her way home from work one December evening, Laurie looks out the bus window and sees him. Their eyes meet and she fell instantly for this unknown man. She thinks he had the same moment. But the bus pulls away before either one can move.
She spends the next year with her roommate/best friend Sarah looking for "Bus Boy". But after a year Laurie thinks she's better off giving up on this wild goose chase. Until Sarah brings home her new boyfriend, Jack. Laurie takes one look at jack and knows he's her mysterious "Bus Boy". But she doesn't dare say anything because Sarah's hopelessly in love and she will not do that to her best friend.
What follows is 10 years of Laurie and Jack dealing with unrequited love and both refusing to do anything that would hurt those in their shared lives that would cause pain. But neither is able to get past that One Day in December.
++++++
I found this a charming unrequited love story that kept drawing me back in. A very good example of a genre that I've taken to calling "Cozy Romance". Would recommend.
