Today I ended up picking back up my Christmas Shopping. Not planned but when you see something on the shelf and instantly think of a person, and the price is reasonable, you pick it up. Or at least I do.

As I'm starting the process of putting ornaments on the tree I got hit by a very strong case of loneliness.

I miss doing this activity with someone. It was my sister or a roommate. I never really had the problem when it was my little or medium tree in my apartment. It's the big one. The family one in the formal living room. My sister and mother and I decorated it. For some reason this year it's rather hard to decorate without missing those who've gone and those who just aren't here right now.

The Rules:
Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. See above for one option. There's also a LJ group "holiday_wishes" where folks post lists like this) And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Big wish: snowblower or snowplowing service
2. Foodsaver vacuum sealer and the do-dads that go with it
3. Size Small dog sweaters for Grimm (no pink)
4. Sunocco gift cards
5. Wegmans and/or Tops Supermarket gift cards
6. Anything from my amazon list
7. Someone else to put up the Christmas lights
8. To be able to ease the hurting of dear friends
9. My internal clock to change so I don't feel the desire to go crawl into bed at 8:30pm
10. Grimm to pass TDI test when it comes round again.

Tonight after dinner sis and I started a new Christmas Eve tradition. It's something we've wanted to do for years but could never motivate mom to do with us.

We bundled up, took the puppy and drove around the neighborhood looking at the holiday lights.

It was interesting because last night we had a huge windstorm and so a lot of decorations had fallen down/over. But here are some pictures we got:

I've wrapped almost all the presents I have. Which was a trick with a puppy who kept insisting on sitting in my lap and "helping".

I am miffed though. Because of the move I can't find the things I bought at Pennsic for people. This includes shineys for dicea, a pretty for visrose and a pretty for the Duchezz. I'm really annoyed because they are all things I really want to give these great ladies. I know they will understand that I can't find them in the great mess that is the garage and the stuff I haven't unpacked yet and will give them to them as soon as I find them, but still.

I have to wrap the gift for Daddy DeWeese. And I haven't wrapped the stuff for Boogie yet because i need to get one more thing. I still need to get something for Momma DeWeese, theboomboom, my uncle (still at a loss, hoping sis has an idea), I need to make my aunt's present, and if I get time the long overdue cuddlefish for starkeymonster

I only got one of the handmade gifts done this year and he saw it being made, though not the finished product. I know things got out of control and I never had the time to finish them but it still irks me some. I'll get some ornaments done for people, I think.

But more progress has been made.

Today was a good day.

I wok up feeling better, still stuffy headed and all but better than I did last night.

Cleaned the living room and kitchen. Next step are the bedrooms, but this was a big step for me. Tzar "helped" me vacuum the living room. well he kept batting at the vacuum with his paw then laying down and shedding on the spots I just vacuumed.

Then I made dinner. I had found a turkey breast on sale for 99 cents/pound and picked it up. Invited Boo and Boogie over for a small early xmas dinner. Roasted the turkey, even did stuffing, rice, and veggies. The stuffing was a bit on the over moist side. But otherwise was a nice dinner.

We exchanged gifts since they are heading to the rents this week. The look on Boo's face when she opened up the Build-a-bear Cookie Monster was soooo worth it. And she liked the voice box for it sis.

The cackle of glee when Boogie opened up the M&M Star Wars figures was great.

I love the beautiful gold earings they gave me and will definately find excuses to wear them.
