Fair warning to the friends and family

The girls and I are talking and are starting to seriously concider additions to our respective households.

Yes boys and girls we are starting to talk Puppies on a more than "I want a puppy someday".

Boogie and I have narrowed the field down to:

Chihuahua
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Dachshund
Beagle

I've gone so far as to consult the classifieds for local breeders and gotten numbers to call.

Over dinner this evening we discussed what ways we want to train so that they would have similar trainings as we want siblings and will do "play dates" and social times.

So I would say in the next couple weeks there may be puppy-age.

The cavalier king charles spaniel is SO beautiful!!!!

Beagles are nice dogs.

I have categorically disliked all the chihuahuas I've met so far, but one frm you ladies might defy convention. Just teach it *not* to yap.

Cool!

What about some of the "hybrid" dogs like the Chiweenie or the Cavichon.

Chihauhua's that I've met are all mean. Not a breed I'm fond of seem to always be scared and mean. Any of the others sounds great.

A think on body reactions: Different dogs have different chemistry and trigger allergies to different extents. Sunny causes 0 histamine response to me, and Eos was actually pretty bad until I built up the tolerance again. The visit to the breeder when we looked at the puppies was almost so bad that I backed out.... But since with her it was the saliva that I react to and not the dander, I figured that it's something I can handle.

Just something to think about when you're looking at breeds.

Congrats!! ;)

Every chihuahua I ever met was a sweet love--it's all how they're brought up.

Cavs are notorious for heart problems--and I'd steal it and never give it back!

What happened to Katie's pug?????

if we get cav's you may visit and snuggle and pamper all you want... just can't steal. *smile*

As for the pug, since we want to get siblings so play dates and continues socialization can occur, we had to narrow down to breeds we both liked. And as much as a sweetie Ping is, I'm not a pug person. I'd rather have their cousin the Mastiff, and that's out of the question for our needs/wants.

We are heavily leaning towards Chihuahuas. All the Chi's I have ever met were adorably dear things. I agree, it's allon how they are brought up. And the girls and I already agreed in formal puppy classes for obedience, regardless of the breed.

Who knows, maybe the additions will be here when you come out for Harvest Raids
