Year in Review actual
Good
1. Employment
2. Grimm and Mr. Darcy completed4 rounds of Puppy Classes all with good marks and showing they can behave well with other dogs and people.
3. Officially became a home owner.
4. Pelican – and that Boss was there to see it happen
5. Snowblower
Bad
1. Great Family Room Flood of 2008
2. Nana
3. Proven I’m not allowed to have an engine driven lawn mower
4. Boss
5. Broke garage door
I think on the scales, Bad tops Good. Just for the losses of those I love.
Employment This isn't so much a I'd like it's a "I need". I need to get a job. If not two.
• Well, I’m employed. Not necessarily happily, but I have an income. I like the people I work with, just not so happy with some of the actual business practices. I promised them a year. So come February I will start looking but I remain grateful for the job.
Health/Weight Gotta get back on track. Plan is losing between 20-30 pounds again and keeping it off.
• Yeah… not so much. I’ve at least maintained.
Great Recipe Challenge 2008 Try at least 50 new recipes over the course of the coming year. I think this is a very do-able thing.
• I managed 18. So not quite half. Becoming employed made it harder for me to focus on trying new foods. But I did try 18 new things
Garage Get the garage sorted and cleaned out.
• I got it cleaned out enough that I could park in it. And the 3rd time I did so I broke the garage door. In order for them to repair it, I had to move a lot of the nice piles I had made. So I consider this a partial yes.
House I want to get the following things done in the Doma: put the wallpaper border up in the guest bath. Invest in a shower curtain rod and get the shower curtain up in said guest bath. Strip wall paper in front all and paint said hall. When money comes in invest in large area rugs for living room and dining room to hide the Hideous Burnt Orange Shag Carpet(tm) in those room.
• Well, I bought the shower curtain rod and we tried to install it. I just didn’t fit. Otherwise I got squat done as far as plans for the house.
Beyond that, I want to work on just staying in the better headspace that I've been able to get in. I'd also like to not lose any loved ones and friends this year. I had enough funerals this year to last out the decade.
• For part of the year I did really well with the headspace. Losing loved one was a serious failure for 2008. Nana and Boss both are big holes that will never be filled.
2009
I think I’m just going to keep to the same ones as last year. Though I think I will take a page out of the book that someone on my Flist uses – call them my to-do list rather than resolutions
Employment - remain employed and maybe find something more rewarding. But staying employed is the key for me.
Health/Weight I’ll aim this year for just 10 lbs. If I break out my walk away the pounds dvd’s that should help right there. Maybe even set up the DDR for my PS2
Great Recipe Experiment 2009 I’m going to be more realistic and try for just 12 this year. That’s one a month. I can do that. Especially since my sister gave me two great new cookbooks for Christmas.
Garage Same as before clean and sort it and be able to park in it easily.
House
1. Wallpaper border in guest bathroom.
2. Front Hall stripped of Wallpaper and painted.
3. Tear our dead lilac tree out front and replace
4. Victory Garden
Grimm Early into the year I would like to get him certified as a Therapy Dog and start doing hospital/group home visits.
Social I’d like to try to get myself into being more social and not just hermit away alone or just with the Girls. I’m hoping the Grimm item on the list will help with that.
