4th of July = stupid people

There is a reason why fire works are illegal in NY people.

About 15 minutes ago two fire trucks raced down my street. On a neighboring street idiots had fireworks too close to something combustable and had a fire in their garage. It was all contained and the only loss was some toys and tools and now a nice visit from Mr. Amherst Policeman.

There are folks on another street shooting off fireworks so they fly over my home. I am not happy. The hose is already pulled out and ready to go should I need it.

Add to all this that the boys are not liking the constant explosions going on all around. While most of it is the legal fireworks display over at the University of Buffalo that we are hearing, but there is enough going of in the neighborhood to make them rather high-strung (and being Chihuahuas that is saying something)

I will be glad when morning comes.

yes but we tend to have enough job security. people do not have to go out of their way to provide us with it.

Perhaps but what is the better story to tell later? The guy who blew his hand apart or YAGWCP [Yet Another Geezer With Chest Pains]?

Ya know, if they could confine their destructiveness to themselves I'd call it Darwinism in action and be OK. But OMG no, they have to endanger many others. Our holiday was Weds, but we still had winners firing off fireworks amidst all the old houses all week and all day today.
Happily, teh firehouse is one block away and most of them are highly cute (they're frequently getting coffee when I am).

I'm not missing dealing with my two dogs and the fireworks. They are boarded at the vet/kennel in a mostly ommercial area so the fireworks should be relatively low.

While I was in VA Champ could never make up his mind if he wanted OUT to see what was making all that noise or if he wanted to hide in the tub.
It was comical in a sad frightened way.
hoping in and out of the tub. A place he never wanted to go into because that was for bath time.
in and out of the tub, then to the door, I would take him outside then back inside then in and out of the tub.
eventually we settled on the floor in the bedroom with my radio on nature sounds turned up as far as I could get it and we had petting time.
