Great Recipe Experiment 2014 #6: Crockpot Creamy Ranch Pork Chops
Invited J&P over on Friday to experiment on them again. Well, I had promised P that I would cook 4 meals over the next bit of time as a "thank you" for agreeing to let J come be my travel companion in two weeks to Vegas.
I've had this one on my Pintrest for a while and decided that this was just as good at time as any to try it.
From: http://www.persnicketyplates.com/2011/10/crock-pot-ranch-pork-chops-with.html
Ingredients
6 pork chops, 1/2 inch thick (I used 8 as that was what was in the package I bought)
1 packet dry ranch dressing seasoning
10 oz can cream of chicken soup
Directions
Place pork chops, ranch seasoning and soup into a medium sized crock pot over high heat for 4 hours or low heat for 6 hours.
Thoughts
*I did the 6 hrs on low for the cooking.
*Visually it was very blah. It didn't help that I made Mashed potatoes and corn on the cob to go with them so we had a very monochromatic meal.
*The gravy came out very thin so I transferred it to a saucepot and added another can of cream of chicken soup and thickened it up some with a flour slurry.
*It was OK. I liked how the gravy came out flavor wise. But I just was kinda meh about the porkchops themselves. I honestly can't say if this will ever be made again. It wasn't a fail but not something that had me looking forward to the next time I make it.
Rating
J gave it a 4 out of 5
I'd give it more of a 3.5 out of 5
