WEASELMAS!

On this day, a few years ago, a very special person was born.

She has been my best friend, my rock, my conscience, my partner in crime, and more than there are words to describe.

As you go about your day, I ask that you take a moment to help celebrate Weaselmas. Wear colors that clash. Play with a dog (preferably a Chihuahua or Golden Retriever). Smile at a stranger that you pass on the street. Give trucks the respect they deserve. Take a moment to thank someone for doing something for you - cashier, toll taker, delivery guy, mailman. Have a bourbon manhattan up and a non-beef dinner.

Most of all, appreciate those who have come into your life and helped to make you you.

Happy birthday Boo. Everyday I thank the powers for that Christmas and Boss for having us share a bunk.

Weaselmas Cake

I made this recipe once before for GRE 2008. Only then I did not frost it.

Well that explains it.

I found out why the dead tree in the front landscaping died.

I was out weeding the landscaping in anticipation of getting mulch for it. I used dead tree to pull myself up. Tree pulled out.

Not having planned on pulling it out yet, but well.. it happened anyway. SO I figured I better dig down now while I have the shovel out and get any roots that were left. I discovered that the swift landscapers did not unwrap the rootball or remove the metal "cage like thing" from around the root ball either. So, the roots had no where to go, no way to seek out nurishment or anything. IN fact, there really much in the way of any root system for the tree.

No wonder it died. I had initially thought it was because the first tree had been destroyed in thye October Surprise and mom had it replaced right away (i.e. November) which I thought was too late in the year. But it was probably that and the fact that there were really no roots.

So, now I have a big hole in the landscaping, all set for the replacement tree.

Walmart has trees for $20. I'm thinking of putting a cherry tree there. I'd love a japanese maple but I can't afford one. But I think cherry would look nice in that corner too.

so it looks like Monday I go get a tree. It's too late for me today, tomorrow is Weaselmas day at the zoo. So Monday it is. Might as well get the mulch too.
