Gardening question

Does anyone on my LJ braintrust have any idea how to get Creeping Myrtle to actually creep?

I actually really like the look of it and right about this time of year, it has pretty flowers, so I would like to use it as an eventual ground cover so I don't have to invest in mulch annually. The little that is there has been there for two+ years now but hasn't really creeped all that much.

Anyone know if there is a food I should be giving it? Break up the soil around it? Do some little voodoo dance?
