Great Recipe Experiment 2014 #4 - Crockpot Roasted Chicken
The grocery store had whole roasting chickens on sale for such a good price I really couldn't pass it up, despite not currently having a working oven. While it would have fit in my little convection oven, I wanted to try something else.
So off to the internet I went and found how to roast a chicken in the slow cooker.
From: http://recipesthatcrock.com/rotisserie-chicken/
How:
1.Spray the chicken lightly with oil.
2.Place the chicken breast side down into the slow cooker
3.Sprinkle liberally with the seasoned salt.
4.Arrange rosemary around the chicken.
5.Cook on low for 6-8 hours
What I did differently
1.Out of oil so lightly rubbed with butter
2. Used Pezney's Greek Seasoning and left off the rosemary as there was enough in the seasonings.
Thoughts
Wow was it moist. As in it fell apart in the crockpot moist. The flavor was good and there was enough dripping in the crock to make a gravy had I wanted to.
This will probably be my go to way to make a whole chicken now.
