What We Found in the Sofa and How It Saved the World by Henry ClarkMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
One day River, Freak and Fiona find an old sofa sitting at their school bus stop. It just magically appeared one day.
The three friends, all outcasts in their school, enjoy the comfort of the old piece of furniture as they wait for the bus and start investigating it. They find various items hidden in the cushions.
After much debate they decide to contact the person they think owned the sofa about what they found. Soon the trio find themselves caught up in an inter-dimensional attempt to take over Earth and then the universe. It's up to three kids, a weird grown up and a highly intelligent set of furniture to save the world.
++++
Despite this being clearly a middle-grade book and I am old enough to almost be a grandmother to the intended target audience, I found this HIGHLY enjoyable, funny and could easily see it being an animated series or mini-series on cartoon network.
