Thursday in the Square is a free concert series downtown that happens in Lafayette Square. It's on the metorail route.
The goth and goth-wannabees I saw there were not actually in the square for the concert. They were in a little corner of alley close to said square.
I would suggest... papering Allen Street (it's the art section of the City, with a high percentage of gay bars though), franklin, Chippawa and parts of Deleware and Elmwood Avenues.
Chippewa is the new center of club/bar life in Buffalo. though I can't get over that as when I left Buffalo 10 years ago, that's where you went to pick up hookers.
