For a while now I've been slowly beginning to think that the cats are trying to kill me in my sleep. Seriously.
I've woken up to coughing due to Alex trying to shove her tail down my throat. I've woken up to Talia jumping on my head or chest REPEATEDLY, in theory to catch the invisible bug on the ceiling, and Tzar keeps trying to trip me down the stairs as I stumble around in the middle of the night on the way to the potty.
Apparently I am too crafty a primate and have thwarted their plans on numerous occasions. So last night they stepped up the war.
It's midnight,I'm lying in bed watching TV about to doze off when I hear CRASH, BANG, THUD come from the kitchen. This had the distinct sound of a feline getting up on the counter where he or she was not supposed to be and knocking over whatever dishes were right there. Not particularly inclined to get up and yell at them I go about my business and figure I will take care of said dishes in the morning.
I think I might have gotten about 20-30 minutes of sleep when I wake up having trouble breathing. Tight in the chest asthma kinda thing. No biggie... I reach for the inhalor... only to find it empty. Drat. Ok I relax my mind, focus my breathing and figure I can tough it out until morning as I know I have a primatine mist in my desk drawer at work. But by 2 ish I really am having trouble breathing and consign myself to the fact that I am going to have to get up and make myself a cup of coffee in an attempt to get the lungs working again. (for those who don't know I hate coffee but it really is a good homeopathic remedy for asthma)
So I go downstairs and notice a slight odd smell in the living room. I"m tired and can't breathe so I chalk it off to someone decided to christen something in the room... again I'll take care of it in the mornig or when I get home from work. I push aside the drape between the living room and kitchen and gasp. Overwhelming smell and really can't breathe. Turn on a light and look around. That's when I noticed one of the knobs on the stove was turned so the burner was putting out gas but not lit.
Panic ensues. First thing, turn off burner, turn down the thermostate to stop the furnace from kicking on, open the kitchen door and all the windows I can.
I spend half an hour sitting on my front step in a pair of shorts and a tank top, freezing but getting fresh air while the house airs out.
Finally go in, make coffee, and go back to bed, still not able to breathe without wheezing and wide awake from the coffee.
All three felines come and "cuddle" with me and I know they are just plotting the next attack.
Who me.. paranoid?
