clean bill of health
Oct. 11th, 2007 04:01 pmMiss Alex had her annual visit to Dr. Dave today. I had scheduled 45 minutes to catch her (based on past years of playing chase alex everywhere to get her in the carrier) but today it only took 10.
He was pleased with her weight loss (she's down a pound). Heart, lungs, eyes and teeth all good (considering she has only 6 left in her mouth this is a good thing).
I asked about this wierd gasping I've noticed she does sometimes when she sleeps. I thought she might have feline sleep apnea. He said he'd never heard of such a thing in a cat. Some dogs have an elongated soft pallet that causes them to do that when they sleep but she didn't show any signs of that. So his guess is... she's dreaming. Just keep an eye on it.
And get this, while we were standing in the exam room talking... Alex went over and rubbed her face against his hand. I stood ther blinking. She doesn't do that. But you know, I"ve noticed she's been a lot happier and outgoing since we moved to the Doma. she likes having a house rather than an apartment.
Talked to him at great lengths about the puppies and what to do and when to bring them in. So they have an appointment with him on December 1st for their second round of puppy shots and general check up. He said we only needed to bring them in before that was if we felt that she really hadn't taken them to a vet. But of course, until they have all their puppy shots, the only other dogs they should interact with are each other. So until all shots are done, no visitors bringing canines. Sorry folks.
All in all, very good vet visit.
