Day one of the rest of my life
Nov. 28th, 2007 11:03 amOf course last night I also broke two nails - one of which I got fixed in DC. Ironically they are the middle finger of each hand.
I got signed up for Unemployment this morning. I have the traditional one week "waiting" time. But that's ok. I get my last paycheck next week and there are benefits to having a good friend in the HR department. While I don't get any severance, she pulled some strings and I will get my last two days of vacation paid out to me (even though it is not standard company policy).
Things I've accomplished so far:
-slept in - puppy even let me
-filed for unemployment.
-learned there is crap on TV during the day (I'm currently watching a rerun of Trading Spaces I've seen at least 4 times)
-Greeted Jahovah's Witnesses, let them do their shpeel. Normally I don't but they seemed so happy to find someone home and it's not like I had anything else pressing.
-started a load of laundry of stuff that got drenched when the wash tub in the laundry room overflowed last week
Plans for the next couple days:
-totally get caught up on laundry
-clean the kitchen
-get into the attic to move some things so I can get the rest of what needs to get up there in order to have places to put the xmas decorations
-vacuum all the rugs really well with the new vacuum
-pull the xmas stuff out and get it up
-grocery shopping during the day to avoid all the crowds that are out after work gets out
-cat boxes changed/cleaned - this is a must do today
Long term while I'm without work:
-send out resumes
-xmas cards
-work on going through the stuff in the garage and hopefully get it all out of there so I can use the garage for the van
-get the patio furniture, grill and umbrella into the shed (will need assistance with that)
-Grimm paper trained completely.
-get back to the crocheting that got put on hold when mom died.
-exercise more
Xmas is going to be lean this year. I may end up making ornaments for folks for 12th night if I hadn't already gotten your gift. I hate that I won't be able to do more but I have to be practical and realistic.
I will still post my xmas wish list, though I don't expect anything. It makes people happier if there are lists.
It's all good.
