I'm sure I've mentioned now, at least a couple hundred dozen times, I don't like snow. Oh sure, it's pretty to look at and makes it feel more like Christmastime. But if I have to go out in it, I have to deal with it, HATE.

I didn't shovel yesterday after everyone left. So of course this means now that it has stopped snowing I need to go do so. I need to go out and get cat food and a couple other staples.

Today is also garbage day so I needed to get the bins to the curb. Not a problem I think since for the last 8 weeks, the garbage guys don't show up until after lunch time anyway.

I get my boots, scarf, gloves, coat and hat on. Head out to start at 9:30. Of course this means that the garbage guys come at 9:45. Well guess the garbage is waiting until next week to get picked up.

It's now 2 hours later and I have gotten 2/3 of the driveway done (need to do the base of the driveway where the plow tossed stuff in) and the sidewalks. I've pulled a muscle in my side.

Still can't get the snowblower to work.

taking a break, making some tea then going to head back out and finish.

My mother's cousin, Joel, passed away suddenly on Friday and today are calling hours. I should go, but don't know if I feel up to trecking all the way out to Albion.

After a 20 minute rest I went back out to continue the driveway.

2 hours later and I'm ALMOST done.

My body hurts

My feet are numb

I'm having trouble breathing.

And I'm still out of cat food.

IT took a total of 4 hours 18 minutes to shovel the damn driveway.

Someday I will learn the very important rule of snow season ...

Clear the car off THEN shovel the driveway. Not vice versa.

You now can only see the little stars on the tops of the small spiral trees. From the road you can barely see the lighted candy canes along the front walk. The small bush is totally covered and no lights can be seen through the snow.

Mother Nature has given us the snow for a white Christmas. No more is wanted or required. Memo will be forth coming.

Tonight I am going to have a nice hot shower, smother myself in bengay, curl up under warm microfleece sheets and electric blanket and try not do die of muscle aches and joint pains.

Tonight was the night of blasts from the past.

I got a call. Didn't recognize the number but it was a local number so I answered it. Turns out to have been a friend from high school whom I hadn't heard from since graduation (16 years ago). ([livejournal.com profile] eternalmusings it was Annette Abate) Her parents still live in the house she grew up in so they get the civic association newsletter that this month had the announcement of my mother's passing and my moving into the house along with my number.

It was weird beyond weird to hear from her. Kinda depressing to to hear of people I know married with kids and nice steady jobs. And I get to thinking... I"m living in my parents' house, single and unemployed. Yeah I've made great strides with my life. Seriously depressed now.

After I hung up with her one of my former co-workers calls just to check on me.

Just seems seriously weird to have two calls in a row from people out of the blue like that.
