Puppies! It must be puppies!
Jun. 10th, 2008 12:40 pmLast night was week two of Novice Obedience Class for Grimm and Darcy.
I know I'm being a proud puppy momma but I am so proud of how the boys are doing. Yesterday Darcy was actually social with the other dogs. Actively going up to them. Playing with Sampson the Pug. During "Shoot recall" (in which the dog is placed in a sit-stay at one end of the room, the other dogs and parents line up down the way to form a shoot, and the dog's owner walks to the end and calls for the sitting dog to come), Darcy sat and when called he went over to say hello to Miss Carrie and her dog Laddie then over to Sampson and his parents and EVENTUALLY made his way down to Dicea. This is such a huge step that I"m all happy for him.
Grimm is still disagreeing with me over the whole down in public thing. Let alone a 5 minute down. But that's ok. Despite refusing to work on it at all for homework, we got the sit-stay AND he let me walk away from him across the room and waited for me to call him to come. He also did very good with the "owner and dog go for walk in heel position, owner takes a step back and the dog turns and comes to sit in front of the owner" to the point that Miss Judi the instructor praised him openly in class for it. Stand for exam is still not something I think we will ever accomplish, but hey, slerm for exam works for me. I won't complain about having a friendly dog.
Today I moved Grimm's pen from the florida room into the family room. It's cooler in the family room and I don't want my poor guy dying of the heat out in the back room.
This morning I came to the conclusion that I really think that Grimm has been having secret conversations with Tristan while I'm at work. I say this because I woke up this morning to find Little Butt curled up on a pillow with the following all around him: 1 stuffed hippo toy, 1 stuffed flea toy, 2 pus toys, 1 little goose toy, 5 mousies and a catnip pouch. Yeah, taking lessons from the T-Man. (By the way Boomboom, Deadised and Visrose - when I last stripped the beds in the florida room I found two more action figures).
Well back to the grind.
