Oh Mighty Wakan Tanka,
Throughout the ages you have held many names, worn many faces, looked over many people. I come to you as Medicine Woman, Shaman, humble supplicant to ask that you look over one who has served you well and long.
A great warrior, faithful follower, devoted husband, loving family member, cherished friend is in need of your aid and comfort this day.
I humbly beg you to look down upon him with your favor and ease pain and grant comfort in the best way that you see for him. Guide the doctors in their workings. Provide solace to friends and family as we need.
I have no right to ask for the miracle that we need, but I ask anyway. There is much that he has yet to give to those here. We have much to learn yet from him.
But should you decide that the best way for him is to join the Great Hunt, I ask that you please grant him the dignity due his station, and help those of us who must go on through the trying times to come.
