Baby steps
Mar. 21st, 2009 11:25 amI've been slowly working on trying to tackle house cleaning. This is something that has actually been causing me to have panic attacks on a rather epic level. My seasonal depression was/is bad this year and part of the way I dealt with that has been to eat, putter on the computer some and sleep. I've let the house go badly this winter.
But I have guest coming for Ice Dragon (which is next weekend) so I have had to get off my ass and start cleaning.
Today I have managed to get down all of the rest of the christmas stuff that was still in the main part of the house (I'm leaving the one in the Florida room up for now - it keeps the cats happy and makes me happy so nnnnah). Now it's just get it into the basement.
The kitchen is pretty scary as is the family room, but I just have to keep reminding myself to take one thing at a time. Don't focus on cleaning the counters and the piles of dishes. Just empty the dish washer. Then load the dishwasher. Don't look at what the final result needs to be, just the next step.
And when it gets too much, too overwhelming, I feel a panic attack coming on, it is perfectly OK to stop and take a break and walk away just so long as I do come back to it
