Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1)Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I found this book to be a fun bit of lightheartedness that takes place in the world of Steampunk that but does not rely on it. Many times I tended to forget that it was technically a steampunk book and not just a young adult regency story with a twist.

I liked the idea in general... a 14 year old girl is sent to finishing school because she's the blacksheep of her family. Only she discovers that the finishing school really is a training academy for assassins and spies, literally a Finishing school.

It did take a bit for me to get into the story, but once I did, the story went quickly. While I am not rushing out to get the next book in the series, I will keep my eye open for it when I visit the library in the future.

baronessekat: (I eat)
Every year at Pennsic, I look forward to Ciarra's night to cook for the camp as she makes this dish she calls BBQ Turkey.

I never think of it as BBQ (as to me that requires smoking, application of a grill and usually some sort of sauce). But I find it delicious and I finally broke down and asked for the recipe, which she sent me last week.
