Everyone knows who Jack the Ripper was. Well that's the thing we don't know who Jack actually was. He's the biggest criminal mystery ever.
This book is told from two points of view... the memoirs of Jeb, the nom de plume of the journalist who followed Jack's career through Whitechapel for many months (later we learn his real name but I won't spoil it here), and the personal diary of Jack himself.
As someone who has always been interested in Jack the Ripper, I quite enjoyed this book. I found it detailed without being graphic (or would that be graphic without being detailed?), well paced and keeping the mystery such that you were not quite sure most times where the story was going, even though you know what happens in history.
I am glad I read this book and if you are a Jack fan or like Victorian Crime Drama, I would recommend this book. And it was enjoyable enough that I will be looking into other books by the author.
