2015 category: Book with a one word title.
Bloodline by Claudia Gray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Roughly 5 years before the events in "The Force Awakens", Leia is a Populist Party member of the Senate for the New Republic. But she is unhappy. The New Republic is split between two diametrically opposite factions and she really doesn't see a way to fix it. So instead she begins to think that perhaps it's time to retire, fly off with Han and go have the adventures they used to talk about.
But there is something happening... an undercurrent of forces that seem to be moving to bring the New Republic down. So she ends up teaming with a member of the Centrist movement to investigate.
They learn that things are indeed proving to be a potentially bad as they seem and those who are trying to bring the New Republic down will stop at nothing to do so.
I really liked this book. I thought that Claudia Grey really understood the Character of Leia as an adult. I found her voice to be one I related to a lot and do plan on getting the other Leia book she wrote (about her when she was a teenager on Alderan). I also hope she writes a follow up to this book because the way it ended... lots of unanswered questions.
