Another installment in the life of Fred, the Vampire Accountant. And again, I very much enjoyed the visit. What I greatly like about these books is that Fred is just an average, nerdy guy. He's an accountant, who happens to be a vampire with some serious heavy hitting friends in the parahuman community.
In this round, he's trying to keep his accounting business going, not for lack of business, but because he's reaching the point of more than he can handle alone. Then add in that rumors of his accomplishments have swirled to "epic" levels and have caused a vampire clan to come to town to either get him to cave or wipe him out and take his territory - and as a clanless vampire it's not looking so good for him.
But he has friends.
I'm glad I found this series a couple years ago and I'm glad that every year since, I have been able to find a category for the reading challenge I do to fit the next book. I like that these books are actually a series of short stories that tell an overall arching story. And Kirby Heyborne's reading is wonderful too.
