why would you include me
Jul. 11th, 2019 09:29 amSo, two weeks ago I sent an email out to certain powers that be at work. I'm going on vacation for 2.5 weeks and no one's told me what the plan is for covering the highly important part of my current job - entering production time sheets (don't get me started about how I really should not have been part of my job and that this "it will only be a 6 month assignment" has turned into 4.5 years.)
To which I get "oh, we didn't tell you that T. is going to be covering for you?" um... "no. And she's never done it so when am I to train her... it's going to take more than a day or two as it's actually quite involved." oh... "here's the schedule we created for her training".
So nice of them to ask me what works for training her to fit in with the rest of my job.
I look over the schedule and see that I'm supposed to train her while she's covering someone else's vacation. Un-huh. So I ask if she could come in today and tomorrow after her night shift so I can start her training without her also focused on the other position. I hear this morning that yes she can.
So I prep for her to come up and start learning at 7:30am. By 9am she doesn't show. I go to the woman T. covering next week and say "She never showed" and the co-worker goes "where you not on the email? She remembered she had an appointment and could not do today, but can tomorrow. I'll forward the email to you."
Yep... the only one NOT included in the email was me... you know... the one who was to train her.
I do not see this going well. T. has a reputation for being a slacker and the time sheets are time sensitive and important for both the person's pay but also inventory control.
But you know... why communicate to the person who it impacts?
