The White DarknessThe White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

All i can say is WTF did I force myself to read. As pointed out to me “Just because it wins awards, it doesn’t mean it’s a good book”. It took me 3.5 months to power through this book.

I cannot begin to say what did not work with this book. BUT w can say that it jumped the shark on page six and went down from there.

No matter how hard I tried, I just could not suspend belief and knowledge of reality to remotely like let alone enjoy this book.

In short do not read.

Midnight Riot (Peter Grant, #1)Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have heard really good things about this series and was happy to find that what I heard was correct. If you like the Dresden Files, I believe you would like this series as well. A wonderful combination of Urban Fantasy, Police Mystery and maybe a touch of Noir.

I think what made this book even better was the reading of the book by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. He very much brought the character of Peter Grant to life for me and made me want to keep returning to the book.

I have every intention of returning to this world again.

Two years ago, I did updates from Pennsic in the style of a Personal Log by a Star Fleet Officer. This year I decided to so updates again and this time I wrote them in the style of the "Dearest Martha" letters from the American Civil War.

I had fun doing them and have decided to compile them all here
