After suffering severe abuse at the hands of her father at the age of 14, Cara vows to never return to London, instead choosing a life women of "polite Society" would never have - freedom, adventure,excitement.

But when her father is murdered, she is forced to return to the city to deal with his estate. This means facing her past... not to mention the ostracizing looks and attitudes of the Tonne. Shortly after she returns, upper class debutantes start disappearing and being murdered. The police think Cara is connected somehow.

Meanwhile, she has also attracted the attention of the "Villainous Viscount", who both scares and arouses her. How does he fit in? Can she keep him at arms length or will she find herself succumbing to him all while trying to figure out what this new serial killer wants with her and her father's rare artifact collection?

Regency Romans + steampunk + mystery = a fairly enjoyable story. The bit of sex was steamy and the mystery held my attention (even if I called the murderer almost immediately upon the introduction of the character).

This was a "mind fluff" book for me - which was what I needed. And I enjoyed it enough (mostly because of the reader) that I will probably seek out more of the books in the series.
