Pride and Prejudice and MistletoePride and Prejudice and Mistletoe by Melissa de la Cruz

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

8 years ago Darcy Fitzwilliams became estranged from her very wealth family in Pemberly, Ohio and set out to become a strong independent woman. By the time she was 27 she was partner in a NYC hedge fund firm and a very wealthy woman and happy with that.

But when her mother suffers a heart attack, she flies home to deal with the emotional baggage of family and home town.

Luke Bennett has known Darcy since they were both in school. He stayed in Pemberly and supported his family.

When the two run into each other at the Fitzwilliams Christmas party sparks fly. But Darcy doesn't want to admit that she feels things and is pretty sure that Luke thinks she's just a spoiled rich kid brat who thinks she's better than everyone in the small town.

But can they each overcome their pride and prejudice and admit what they feel for each other?

****************

I picked this book up from a deep discount sale table at an overstock store because the dust jacket was pretty and the blurb sounded interesting.

This now being the 3rd retelling of Pride and Prejudice that I've read, I suppose at some point I need read the actual original story. But this gender swapping modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice meets Hallmark Channel Christmas Movie was sweet and fun.

Nothing ground breaking or heavy thinking. If I had to put this in a category I'd say this was a decent modern "chick lit" book (as much as I hate that term)
