My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A poignant telling of the life of one of the most famous women in modern history as told to her biographer through the means of recordings smuggled to him from inside the palace.
It is the story of a very lonely woman, trapped in a loveless marriage and a family who always treated her as an outsider.
Listening to this book on the 24th anniversary of her death gives insight into how the Princes William and Harry have been influenced strongly by their mother and how they have taken the lessons the learned from her to heart and how they approach the new millennium, the monarchy and the people.
