I honestly do not know what to call this but a character study that revolves around a group of characters that meet for one week in winter at an Irish Bed & Breakfast during one specific week in winter (as the title says).
It starts with the woman who buys the great house and restores it to turn it into a B&B. Here's is the story of her life before buying the house and some of the restoring.
It then moves on to those who help her run the place, and then finally the guests.
To be open and honest, I have never heard of the author before this book and I only picked it up because it was 1) short 2) readily available from the library and 3) the title fit a monthly surprise prompt for a reading group I am in. I do not see getting more by this author any time soon but I would not shy from her.
I liked the first 1/3-12 of the book better than the second. I found myself drifting as listened to the second half - through no fault of Rosalyn Landor's reading (I may go find more books she's read). I just stopped caring about the characters. But I can see why others a big fans of this author.
