I had to run up to wal*mart to get an iron. I tore the sewing room apart and couldnt find my iron. While I was there I ran into the fabirc section to pick up some interfacing for the button/buttonhole overlap.

And while I was there I glanced at the $1/yd table. And found a silk/wool blend I couldn't resist. I picked up 5 yards because I loved the design and well silk/wool blend for $1/yd who can resist.

So, my faithful readers what do I make out if it? It will be garb as I will definately need garb for pennsic.

OH, that's purdy!!! WalMart Canada never has *nice* fabric on sale. At least, not when I'm there *pout*

Sympathy on the [previosly posted backward seam issue. I do that too, generally on sleeves that I've pinned, checked, tried on, rechecks and re-pinned. Then I still sew it backward!

I don't know what you should make. But something splendid, fer sure. What periods/cultures do you do? I'm sorry, I have Swiss Cheese in my head.

technically... I'm 1500's Russia. Not Kiev of Moscow. I'm Cossack. So it tends to have more of a Mongolian/Turkish influence. But to be period I can also wear Tudor since during that time the Russians tending to only trade with England.

In reality, I wear whatever strikes me. The majority of my garb has been t-tunics and cotehardies. (cuz they don't require lots of thinking to make. In the end, while I can sew (and have done so competitively) I'm a lazy seamstress.)

I think this fabric is really going to drape nicely and hug when worn.

I can bring the stuff to Ice Dragon if you're going to be there.

Also, the walmart I was at had TONS of tapistry fabrics on the $2/yd table.

oh! also, do you have a guahzee (or however it's spelled) coat/jacket pattern or know how to make one? While rummaging for the missing iron I found fabric that would be great for one for war.

I'd say make something coat-ish. It just looks way too soft to be in something over-constructed.

Yeah, I'm thinking something simple. I might just do a fitted t-tunic dress with a very full skirt.

Part of me is really tempted, given the price of the fabric, to go back and get enough for a mundane coat dress as well.
