The Kaiju Preservation Society by John ScalziMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Just as Covid hits, Jamie finds himself unemployed from his Marketing Job and having to earn a living as a food delivery person. While on a delivery, he runs into someone from his past who offers him a job that just opened up on with an expeditionary team for a large animal preservation society.
Needing something better, Jamie accepts assuming that he's going to be helping tote and lift equipment and materials for a group that is working to save the polar bears or something (this is his assumption after being told his first station will be in Greenland). Only he later discovers that the base in Greenland is a portal to a parallel earth where the largest and deadliest animals are Kaiju - you know - "freaking Godzilla". It only gets more surreal for him after that.
+++++
This book was true John Scalzi. I laughed the whole way through - helped by the narration of Wil Wheaton. I very much see returning to this book often for a good chuckle.
Highly recommend
