Boyfriend Material (London Calling, #1)Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Being the gay son of two former rock stars is difficult for Luc. His parents split when he was 3 and he has had no contact with his father and his mother has retired and left the public eye. Luc has tried to stay out of the media but exboyfriends and wannabe journalists have prevented that.

After one evening, a compromising photo gets published and Luc finds himself being required to clean up his public image or risk being fired from his job as a fundraiser for a VERY obscure charity. Enter Oliver - the handsome, upper-class barrister friend of a friend who agrees to pose as Luc's new boyfriend in exchange for Luc joining him at his parents' anniversary party.

It seems like a win-win situtation. Until Luc starts thinking this fake relationship could actually be more real.

++++++

I found the general story good, but there were many times that I was just bothered with the characters. Not just Luc and Oliver, but the secondary ones as well. Luc's coworkers flat out annoyed the hell out of me.

I realize that most of the secondary characters were actually caricatures of a type, but that didn't change the annoyance levels.

I can't say that I will be actively looking for the next book, but I don't think I would shun it should it come to me.
