When I was heavy, I had no problem finding pants the right length for my height. It was if being "women's size" it was ok to be short too.

But now that I'm a size 10, even the Petite pants (which are supposed to fit people my height) are too long.

What gives?

It's ok to be short if you're fat because your a freak anyway, but if you're thinner, you need to be tall and stuff?

Honest, hun, it's all about the shoes--look at the height of heels and platforms on shoes--that's why the pants are too long. Happened in the 70's too. When the shoes get sane again, the pants will get shorter. Until then, either get new shoes or resign yourself to using your sewing machine, even on petites.

Actually, I've noticed the same thing. I watch people, since it's always an interesting experiment to try to figure someone out from their clothes, their gait, attitude.. etc. (story building exercises from long ago.) Anyway, I digress...

I have seen so many women (of the more petite builds) when I walk to work who are wearing "sensible" walking shoes on their way to work who have pants that are either cuffed, or just dragging. On the other hand, those who wear heels of 1.5" or more.. the pants are perfect. The going style for the thinner ladies seems to be the "almost but not quite" bell-bottoms of a flowy material, coupled with 2" heels, and cut in such a way that they BARELY miss the ground when standing. I've also noticed that the fronts of shoes are heading toward late 14thC-styled long and pointies. Interesting, yes? *grin*

If it helps tho.. I can empathize somewhat. I still have my "catcher's" legs.. and to get pants that fit me, I either need to work on getting a larger gut, or take in the waist.. or have everything look baggy and frumpy. Last time I got a suit.. I looked like I raided the salvation army.

I'll happily hem your pants if you'll do the alterations on mine. *grin*

and I actually really like wearing heels with slacks. But unless I'm wearing boots, heels and jeans just don't cut it for my sense of fashion style. And I refuse to get "platform sneakers".

But the other down side to the new shoe style... it only works for those women who have narrow feet. Not the Wide ones like me... or worse I have wide feet with high insteps. Shoe shopping is almost as much of a nightmare as pants shopping.

Guess I just need to feed my unnatural boot fetish more so I have nice boots to wear all the time.

It's why I wear high heeled boots alot... I like them and it's easier then hemming pants... 'cause once they are hemmed... I can't wear my boots with them anymore... I like Levis alot... because you can get the size in a short as well... I have a few of those... just for days I want to wear my sneakers.. = )

Maybe you're not supposed to wear pants?

But then, I've always been partial to skirts.
