I refused to hear the words. No, they were not directed at me. They couldn’t have been. But there was no denying what I saw with my own eyes.
I stood there, my eyes wide with surprise, doubt, disbelief.
No gorram way was this happening. This does not happen to me!
It was just three little words. But those three words held so much. Command, a promise, and most of all betrayal.
Just three little words that repeated in my headset as I looked over Serenity valley, knowing my life would be different from this moment on.
“HOLD YOUR FIRE!”
