I was offered $6 more an hour if I would tell the new job "sorry" and stay at Baum's.

I said no. I had made promises and commitments to a friend and it's time for me to move on.

My supervisor said that people break commitments all the time (this alone tells you their mentality). That her ex stood before God and promised forever.

My responce: "I never promised you forever. I'm not a guy. And it's been a while since God's actually struck someone down. I think [profile] dheirdre has. And even if she hasn't I'm not taking the chance."

Not to mention I have no desire to stay full time there.

I have agreed to 2 nights a week (tuesdays and thursdays). It gives me extra money and I won't have to deal with the day to day idiocy that I do now.

This weekend is shopping for clothes for the new job as I no longer have anything that fits correctly. And SEWING. and Sewing and sewing and sewing.

Not to mention, I doubt you were standing before God when you signed your employment papers O_o

I'd almost want to tell them that saying that people "break commitments all the time" didn't make me too eager to believe in that *promised* raise. But I'm a smart-ass like that.

Some people just don't understand that there is more to a job than the paycheck you bring home. Yes, you need the money to live, but sometimes that "extra buck" comes at too high a cost to your soul.

Congrats and good luck.
