Independence day
Jul. 4th, 2006 08:43 pmI was lazy this morning and didn't do much of anything until I had to get dressed to head over to my mother's. Thus I have managed to eek out a little bit of me time today.
Went over to mom's and we headed out to Medina (well technically East Shelby) to go to my aunt and uncle's house.
Got a "Wow!" from my aunt who hasn't seen me since just after I started the weight loss thing and my uncle said he didn't recognize me at first.
It was nice going over and spending time with them. After the requisite burgers and dogs and mac salad, Mom and my Uncle went out to smoke and explore their little farm while my aunt and I stayed in and chatted.
It's wierd, growing up, they were the aunt and uncle we rarely saw. I'd say they were almost standoffish and aloof when it came to family while my other aunt and uncle in the area (who happen to be my godparents) were always around. But ever since my grandparents died, it's been the reversal. I've grown closer (well as much as I get close to relatives) to this aunt and uncle, more my aunt than my uncle but still.
She and i have a lot in common the older I get. I really should maybe make an effort to stay more in touch with her. Give her a call now and then when I see a sale going on (she's a big shopaholic).
I'm home now though (obviously) and should go up to the sewing room and hem up pants for the new job. I do have a pair I can wear tomorrow that don't need hemming so I might just wait and do the sewing tomorrow and really make today a me day.
