I went on line this morning and browsed ebay. And as soon as paypal is back up, I will shortly be the proud owner of two saris.

I am not going to argue 99 cents american each for them.

Now I just need to learn how to wrap/drape them. And get some choli's made

you're somewhere in the buffalo area, nu?

i suggest we need to make a tactical strike on little india (around the lake in toronto) - trust me, it's easier to buy cholis than it is to make them, even if it involves a drive. fitting the buggers is a serious pain in the arse. if i'm not available, damedini would almost certainly be up for any excuse to cruise the strip ;-)

either one of us can show you how to do a basic wrap, as well; she can probably teach you several regional variations.

one thing that may not be clear is that you'll need a third garment - either a petticoat or a pair of salwar (pants) - because the upper hem of the sari has to tuck into something with a waistband, to hold it all together. in a pinch, a pair of boxer/bike shorts will do, since the sari hides everything underneath anyway, but you will need something under it to hold it all together.

Thanks! I can teach wraps.

Also, I rarely wear a petticoat or anything. I learned to tie the sari to itself (mostly because the one time I wore a sari tucked into somethign else it went bldbldbldbl onto the floor. Tying it to itelse has never ever failed me) and go from there. I can show you the first few days at Pennsic, including pants wraps.

And it's way true about the cholis. You can easily day trip. And, if you come up here and don't call me I'll make sure your saris go bdlbdlbdl to the floor ];^)> tee hee hee

I've already got one pair of salwar cut out. Potentially three others in the works (well, I have the fabric and the pattern. Just need to put them together and cut).

I really wish I had the time to go up to Toronto and wreak havoc upon little india before Pennsic. I just don't.

I have a couple patterns for cholis and will continue browsing ebay for some finds. I'll make do for this war and definately come up maybe this fall and you and dini can introduce me to the world of Indian fashion properlike.

Maybe I can talk Dicea and bakestondone into joining for a road trip.

SCAdian's gone wild.

Hmmmmmmm
