They say that thems that loose a limb will often reach down to scratch an itch that ain’t there. Or complain of a hurt that cannot be.

I often wondered how this could be. Was it because you were so used to something being there that your mind refused to believe it?

I understand now.

Even now, after I’ve grown used to having the bed to myself and someone else at the helm, I still feel like he should still be there. And sometimes, in the quiet of the night I can still hear his voice softly whisper my name.
