You can almost feel it dance against your skin.

It presses down on you, tight and firm, like the embrace of a long lost lover or a prison warden... secure and restraining, begging and demanding that you never leave. The feeling consumes you and envelopes you. As if devouring you and making you one with it.

The tingles it brings shoot up and down your spine causing little shivers of excitement, wanting, needing and fear to run through you. Those little hairs on the back of your neck stand in attention like a military parade.

You need to move, dance, laugh, sing, giggle and make merry. You need to hold perfectly still to that it doesn't find you. Because you know when it arrives it will rage and roar at the world and anything it can reach.

And it will eventually find you and if it catches you it will play with your hair, pull at your clothing and push you around as if it doesn't care one wit about you. Then it will make you wet. And you want to be wet and needing as you stand there and take it.

Bring it on! your mind screams as it comes closer and closer.

And when it strikes you will feel the charge that can never come in any other way.

No wonder so many people like thunderstorms.

I just wish it would hurry up and happen

The attack

It starts first as a tap, barely noticible and easily dismissable. Something you can easily ignore

Tap, tap, tap. Pay attention to me! Yet still you can ignore it. If you ignore it maybe it will grow tired and go away. But it won't be ignored. You can't just walk away from it. Not when you stand inside its realm of influence.

Faster the taps come, harder, and now rather than just a little poke, big flat patches of surface contact is made on your skin. Slaps that turn to stings.

Go ahead and run, you can't out run it. You can hear it laughing at you and your feeble attempts to get away. Pull your clothes up to protect you from the stinging blows, it will do no good. for it will even turn your own garments against you to hinder you from getting away. It will take your clothes and wrap them tight around you, contricting movement. Your shoes even become heavy so that it is a struggle to lift your feet. Even your hair gets involved and falls into your eyes to keep you from being able to see where you are going.

If only you just resigned. Give in. If you don't struggle it won't hurt. It will be easier if you just let it have its way.

Besides....

a little rain never hurt anyone.

If you haven't been able to tell from my previous posts... the rain has finally come. About damn time! But I'm sitting here with an 11 month old kitten wrapped around my ankle, hugging it tightly. Talia is experiencing her first real thunderstorm.

Well I assume there were some when she was wee and very small but she doesn't remember them. But right now she's clinging to me for dear life.

Tzar is trying to be the big brave boy but he's not very please with this whole sky lighting up for a moment and loud noices coming from it. He keeps rubbing against my legs for reassurance.

The only one who is calm about it is Alex. She's like "yeah so... sky go boom. Big deal. Shut up and let me watch Teen Titans".

The only down side to the storm is taht I have to shut the windows so it's really damn hot and stuffy in here.

As it gets warmer, not only is talia hugging me, she's panting in a rather obscene way.
