I went digging in my closet today to drag out the window air conditioner to put it in the window tomorrow when Boo comes over to help me with it. It's not particularly heavy it's just combersome. But as I was i the closet I found all my old board games and realized that I couldn't remember the last time I sat down with friends and played them.
There used to be a time when I would get together with people and we'd play a board game. Some were really fun... I remember playing SPLAT! with the Thescorre Fencers and us having the time of our lives.
but I've got games like Trivial Pursuit, Jenga, Thinksplot, Nightmare, Clue, and others and I actually find myself missing the fun of playing them.
In a world of instant visual gratification, Playstations, Xboxes, MMPORGs, and the like, it seems like nobody appreciates the sit down with a couple cases of drinks (soda, beer, etc), chips and dip and playing around the kitchen/dining room table and interacting in person.
Don't get me wrong, I have my Atari 2600 and my Playstation2 and my Gameboy and I can enjoy the instant visual gratification games, but sometimes...
I just miss being social without having the pressure of spending tons of money going out, or just watching another DVD.
Anyone up for a game of chutes and ladders or even checkers?
