The SCA (AEthelmearc specifically) – the views of a not so impartial observer

The last few days has seen a flurry of posts on my flist about what can we do to make Crown better, why don’t people care anymore about the game, and the like.

I haven’t given this topic as much thought as I probably should but I want to get my “gut feelings” down and maybe through comments (if any come) sort through my opinions and the like. This is very long.

WARNING: I’m not censoring myself or my thoughts on this. This is going to just be core dump of feelings, observations and the like. And frankly if you can’t deal with that, don’t read any further

CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP

So today instead of going to Scribal I go out to the Doma and putter then head to the neighborhood civic associations meeting.

My main reason for going is to find out when the stupid community garage sale is. I was hoping to hear first weekend in June. I should be so lucky.

It could be worse. It could be THIS weekend. Which it isn't. This is good as I am out of town this weekend.

Instead... it's NEXT weekend. Which means I will be spending every evening after work out there trying to haul stuff out of the basement and sorting. I will be trying to figure out table like things to put out stuff for selling.

This means I have to go into work tomorrow and negotiate with the Boss time off next Friday (it's a three day garage sale and most of the stuff sells on the Friday)

I am thinking of rather doing a traditional garage sale I will set my pavillion up in the front yard (needs to be aired out anyway) and put tables under it and make it a yard sale and then put the walls up at night. The good stuff can go back into the garage from the driveway at night for safe keepings.

So... I need to pull out my collapsable book cases from my apartment to take over. Get the card tables, the carts, the shelving units and other things that can be used at the Doma out of the basement and into the garage.

Then of course there is the getting what stuff I can out of the basement and into the garage for sale. Get the encyclopedias off the shelves and into boxes for sale.

Dicea kept me rational. I am not panicking. I will do what I can for this coming one and consider holding another one after pennsic. And what I don't sell can be boxed up and held on for next year's.

I'm still frustrated and would have liked it to be in June.
