People say that they don't believe I get mad. I'm the calm one. No... I tend to let the anger simmer and get to a nice rolling boil.

And today it has hit pressure cooker level.

Today was SUPPOSED to be the day they came to measure my master bedroom for the carpet. The measuring guy was supposed to call between 7 and 9am to schedule a 2 hour block of time. He called at 11:30. Said he would be there between 12 and 2. No problem.

Dicea came over to help me reorganize the garage while waiting for this bozo. We got the garage cleaned and organized. My ceiling got repainted. I got the outlet covers back up, the tape down, the cold air return vent cover up. By 5 this guy had not shown up. I dig out the toll free number for the subcontract company that Home Depot uses for measuring. The girl was not all that helpful but puts me on hold then comes back and says the guy should be calling me shortly.

We go back to working on the garage. 30 minutes later I haven't heard from the guy. I call the toll free number and get a nice woman named Deidre who I say "This guy is now 3.5 hours late. I'm getting pissed off." She said "I don't blame you. Let me find out what's going on." She puts me on hold and comes back and says "He promises that he will call you in 5 minutes or less. If he doesn't you call me back and I'll get to the bottom of it for you."

2 minutes later "Mark" called and says his car broke down and he's been waiting for AAA. I"m beyond pissed. He had my phone number to call and coordinate the time he was suposed to come, but he couldn't call to say his car broke down and he needs to reschedule?!?!?

I dress him down and ask if he's going to come tomorrow. He starts waffling and I say that if he doesn't show up I will be canceling my order and taking my business elsewhere. He then asks what time I would like him there. I said Noon. He then asked 2. I said that if he was not here by 2 I would definitely be going elsewhere and telling them that it was because of him.

I called Deidre at the main office back and thank her for her help and said I wanted to lodge a complaint about this guy. She said she did not blame me one bit. She gave me the name and phone number of "Mark's" manager who will be getting a call from me on Monday. Dicea and I then went to the Home Depot by the Doma to see if they would give me a refund on the measurement fee. Unfortunately I have to go back to the HD I placed the order at (which is the one by work) but the nice person at HD said that they have been having issues with this particular Subcontractor and that the only way they can get corporate to stop using them is for customers to complain.

So Monday when I go to demand my measurement fee refunded I will ask for a way to contact the regional corporate office to inform them that because of this horrible experience, the fact that their subcontractor ruined plans for the weekend I will never be bringing my flooring needs to HD again. I will pay extra for someone locally that will meet the agreed schedules.

And this is me... telling my friends via my Blog about my experience so that if they have flooring needs they will think twice about using Home Depot. I do not blame the workers at Home Depot. IN fact every time I've gone there and needed to talk to someone, I have been helped immediately and professionally. My experience is with their subcontractor and if they continue to use that one, I will not be giving my service to HD.

That being said, I'm going to be going back to the Doma to finish laundry and unpack my DVDs and VHS tapes.
