The interview was actually a "pre-interview". It was with the staffing company that screens applicants for several other companies.
I had the standard excel and Word and typing tests. I scored 80 on each. 80% on Excel and Word and 80 wpm on the typing. I was very disappointed with the excel and word scores. I would have done better on excel if the stupid test would allow for the "shortcuts" and "tricks" that just about every secretary knows. Instead you had to do it the "official" way and of course I couldn't remember the official way. And with Word, *sigh*, I really need to learn how to do Mail Merge. Yes it's a standard thing, but I've never had to do it except on proficencey tests.
But I was shocked at my WPM. Last time I took a typing test I scored only 65 wpm. I've improved greatly.
All in all the people at the staffing company were very impressed with my test results. (Apparently the standard for the Excel and Word is barely 55%).
So anyway, they are forwarding my resume on to the company that the woman mentioned to me over the phone. It's a receptionist position but they are wanting someone "professional but genuine". They are willing to pay up to $30K a year. And get this... they are literally across the street from ACI (my old job). Hopefully I will hear from this company within the week to set up the Official interview. The staffing company will also keep my resume and forward it to other companies that they think will be a good fit for me and be able to meet my minimum salary requirements.
So here's hoping.
