So I'm not an avid birding person or anything. but I've got a couple feeders out and I enjoy watching what comes to visit.
I get the usual sparrows, common finches, robins, grackles, starlings and red-wing blackbirds. This year I have only seen one woodpecker and one female cardinal. In passing I spotted a blue jay and the other week I opened the back door to find a juvenile hawk sitting on my back deck.
In winter I got Juncos.
But today was a first for me.
I came home to find two birds in my driveway I had never seen. They kinda looked like sandpipers but not so long in the beak.
When I got out I heard their song and thought I recognized it. So I looked it up and yep...
I had a pair of killdeer sitting in my driveway. I've only ever heard them, never seen them.
It's not much but it was a "oh neat" factor for me.
