So I've been doing lots of research into period oaths of fealty and service and stuff. And so I've compiled what I've found to start working on my own oath for my elevation.

phrases and passages that work for me )
I did find a great response from a liege lord to a samurai that says that they accept the oath and stuff and should the samurai break his oath the wrath of all kinds of little gods shall descend upon the oath breaker.

And I have to admit that I like the phrase "against every creature, living or dead". But if I said that I would actually have to promise to fight against the zombies and vamps. Hmmmm...

Anyway, now that I've got the key phrases and seen how most period oaths were made (at least those documented) I can work on putting together one for myself. Still trying to decide if I want to be the one to say it all or ask the herald to read it and I do the "I will" "I will" "I do" responses.

Double Knit... WTF?

What person conceived that this was a wonderful fabric to wear and work with?

While rummaging for fabric for war I found a stash of mom's old fabric. I spotted this beautiful russian print in blue and green. When I pulled it out... double knit. EW

Well, I'm going to make use of it and make a drape for between my tent and the girls' to block sun out of our ghetto. But man... this stuff is horrid to work with. (and I'm using mom's old machine that has the knit presser foot attachment)

Double knit drap more or less done (needs some rings added but that has to wait until pennsic when I have the tent up)

Russian great coat done save for hand sewing of collar, cuffs and adding closures. Closures will have to wait until war when I can buy some frogs. I'm actually pleased with how it came out. I was concerned with the design of the fabric. It is much more Muscovite rather than Ukrainian but oh well. The fabric was $2/yd and is a period pattern, even if it looks like something that should be on my grandmother's couch (which is actually one of the ways they say to look for russian brocade patterns "would grandma have this on her couch?")

Tonight I am going to relax and hand stitch the waist band of my gold skirt.

While I feel behind I know I'm not. So it's all good.
