The drive out was nice and went a lot faster than I remember. But then, it's been a while since I drove to Rochester. Usually when I'm driving east it's to head to Utica. So it seemed like I had just gotten on the road when it was time to exit the thruway.
I did have the momentary "did I pass the exit" on the 104. I used to live in that area and I remembered St. Paul St being a lot closer to the 390 than it is. But site was found.
I arrived before the big flux of people, which was nice.
My class as in the first time slot. I had only one student, but a couple people sat down for a few minutes. One student is still a student, so I don't feel like a failure for no one attending (which I have had happened in the past).
The site was a hall, rather than a place with individual classrooms. I would not have had as much of an issue of an open classroom setting if the class hall had not also been the only real gathering place on site too.
Because of the layout, there really was no place to escape from the crowds. By 1pm I had been thoroughly peopled out, but I stuck it out. Spent some time with the Duchesses and various other folks that I haven't seen in a while. I only attended one other class given by
goodscagirl.
Court was nice and short, being only baronial court. And after court I headed home.
Being the first event that I have bachelored in years, I totally forgot certain things. I always make sure to pack in the feast basket nibblies and water so that the girls have things. I forget about things like that for myself. As such I had next to no protein during the day and had a wicked headache and case of the crankies until I hit McDonalds on the way home. And while I managed to stay caffinated, I didn't really stay hydrated.
Next event is Ice Dragon. I have a scroll due and I'd like to make some new garb for it. It's a month away, we shall see what gets done.
But I view yesterday as a victory in getting out of the house, going to an event alone, having someone attend my class and coping with all the people.
Small victories, but victories none the less.
